Winnipeg, Manitoba -The Honourable Lynne Yelich participates in a demonstration at the Neeginan Aerospace Training Centre at the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc.
The Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc. (CAHRD) is training skilled workers for the aerospace industry at the Neeginan Institute of Applied Technology in Manitoba thanks to investments by the Government of Canada.

“Investments like today will create new opportunities for Aboriginal students while helping address skilled labour shortages in the aerospace sector,” said the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification. 

“The Government of Canada is committed to working with our partners to create new employment opportunities that will allow Aboriginal people to enter the labour market and fully share in Canada’s economic prosperity,” said the Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians.  “This project reflects our commitment, through the Urban Aboriginal Strategy to promote job training, skills development and entrepreneurship for Aboriginal people across the country.”

Federal funding of $276,669 is being provided by Western Economic Diversification Canada and $103,308 by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada through the Urban Aboriginal Strategy for equipment and tools at the Neeginan Institute of Applied Technology.
