Ottawa- Today, the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, tabled legislation to protect those who dream of one day becoming Canadians from the dishonest and unscrupulous action of crooked immigration consultants. “Canada is the destination of choice for thousands of people who want to build a better life for themselves and their families,” stated Minister of State and Blackstrap MP Lynne Yelich. “Some individuals may choose to use the services of an immigration consultant but some of these consultants just want to take advantage of these people for the money.” |

Ottawa, Ontario– Canadian producers and exporters will benefit from full market access as Panama announced the re-opening of its market to Canadian breeding cattle and expanding market access to bovine genetics. The announcement was made today by Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and International Trade Minister Peter Van Loan. "We know that Canadian producers raise the highest quality cattle and produce the best dairy genetics in the world," said Minister Ritz. "Market by market, we are creating more opportunities for farmers to benefit from expanded sales to more consumers around the world." "The Government of Canada is pleased with Panama's decision to re-open its market to Canadian cattle exports," said Minister Van Loan. "This is great news for Canada's cattle industry. Our government will continue to work to ensure full access to important markets around the world for Canadian producers." In 2009, the value of Canadian agriculture and food exports to Panama was $23.5 million. Canada and Panama signed a free trade agreement last May 14. Once implemented, the agreement will open doors to Canadian farmers and exporters with improved market access, bringing benefits to a wide range of sectors, including agriculture and agri-food. – 30 – For more information, media may contact: Media Relations Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Ottawa, Ontario 613 773-7972 1-866 345-7972 |

June 4-6, 2010-Allan, SK-This year marks the centennial of the Town of Allan in the heart of Saskatchewan. This community, whose motto is “City Convenience, Country Charm”, proudly celebrates 100 years of farming excellence, and strong family values. Today we remember the Town of Allan’s first hundred years, back to the days when the railroad was built, our grain elevators stood tall against the horizon and our fields were plowed with horses and hard work. Change in our community has at times been quick and dramatic, and at other times it has crept up on us slowly and surely. Throughout 2010, we remind ourselves of all the hopes and plans that our early settlers had when they put down roots here and we look forward with excitement and anticipation to seeing our own plans fulfilled in the upcoming years. Best wishes to everyone! |
